Monkey Shoulder is a modern blended malt Scotch whisky crafted by William Grant & Sons, introduced in 2003 as a bartender-friendly alternative to traditional blends. Unlike blended Scotch, it contains no grain whisky—only single malts, originally from Glenfiddich, Balvenie, and Kininvie. Aged in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and vatted in small batches, it offers a smooth, approachable character ideal for mixing or sipping neat. Its name pays homage to a historic maltmen’s injury, while its bold branding helped redefine Scotch’s image for a new generation.
